Biography
Dr. Fidelis A. Abija is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Physical Oceanography, Faculty of Oceanography, University of Calabar. He has over 27 years’ industry, research and teaching experience as Principal Consultant in the fields of Geotechnical, Construction and Environmental Engineering sciences and subsea oil and gas systems. He is in Industry Lecturer since 2010 on oil/gas facilities unitization (surface and subsurface), matrix fracture and well stimulation, environmental management systems, subsea oil/gas systems, time value of money and total quality management systems for the public and private sectors etc. in continuous professional development courses in Nigeria and abroad. He was Public Lecturer on Physical Oceanography and Marine Geotehnics as Key for reversing global climate change disasters during the World Ocean’s Day 2023; Guest Lecturer to the Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers (Port Harcourt chapter) in 2018; Keynote Lecturer at the 6th Annual International Conference of the Nigerian Association for Engineering Geology and the Environment, Ibadan 2021 and Guest Lecturer, at the Special Summit on Building Collapse of the Nigerian Building and Roads Research Institute (NBRRI) in 2022. He is a professional member of SPE, NMGS, NAH, NES, IAEG and Fellow of NAEGE. He is a Chartered Professional Geoscientist and a registered Environmental Professional (RES-NREP) in IL, USA. He has over 35 refereed journal and conference research papers.
