Short Biography


B.Y.R. Surnam is an Associate Professor at the More University of Mauritius in the Mechanical and Production Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, since April 2018. He had joined the University in 2007 as Lecturer and was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2013. In 2014, he was appointed as Head of Department for a period of 2 years. As Head, he was deeply involved in the accreditation of the B.Eng programmes offered by the Department. At present he is the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering. He has obtained a Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Mauritius, in June 2010. In August 2011, he was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to perform Post-Doctoral research at the Texas A&M University (USA). His advisor was Prof. H. Liang. B.Y.R. Surnam is deeply involved in the field of corrosion and materials. He has a good track record in research and is involved in several research projects. He is also a Mechanical Engineer registered with the Council of Registered Professional Engineers of Mauritius.
