My Biography

Dr. E. Gayathiri is an accomplished academician, More researcher, and administrator with over 15 years of experience in the fields of teaching and research. She holds a Ph.D. in Biotechnology and has made significant contributions in the study of hydrocarbon degrading bacteria and their associated genes. With a passion for teaching and learning, she has been associated with various educational institutions, including Guru Nanak College, where she currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Plant Biology and Plant Biotechnology. Driven by a strong research acumen, she has published numerous research articles in prestigious journals and serves as a reviewer for scientific publications. The isolation of NTM species from humans, Mycobacterium virginiense is the second time to be Read More isolated from Human sputum in the world and water, Mycobacterium fortuitum highlighted that active and ex miners are at potential risks of acquiring pathogenic NTM from mining environment. The study has reviewed that they are NTM circulating in the mining environment and humans (active and ex miners) in Zambia which are potential pathogenic in immune comprised individuals. The identification of these Mycobacteria in clinical samples and environmental sources was important for both clinical and patient management, It will also help formulate policy change in understanding transmission factors that increase NTM transmission in mining
