My Biography

I, (Dr.S.M.Fazeela Mahaboob Begum) hold a Ph.D., More degree in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, from B.S Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science & Technology, Chennai. I am interested in exploring the marine natural products and their utilization in human health. My thrust areas of research include cell signaling pathways in cancer, diabetes, apoptosis, inflammation and tumor immunology. I hold a broad set of technical and analytical skills with strong expertise in In silico, In vitro and In vivo areas of research. I have 13 years of experience in research and teaching. I have two Indian patents filled and published and has authored 10 research articles and a book chapter in the area of evaluating the efficacy of marine bioactives in lung cancer and diabetes. I have guided and submitted 6 PG projects. I am intended to identify the molecular targets in lung cancer, and breast cancer the mechanism behind the disease and the mode of action of marine bioactives with those targets. My major focus is to explore and utilize the marine phytochemicals in the development of novel drugs or lead compounds for the management of lung cancer. Currently,I am working as Assistant Professor, School of Life Sciences BS Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai.

Hello everyone, I am presently working as Professor at School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Atmiya Read More University, Rajkot, Gujarat, India. My major research areas are pharmacognosy, phytochemistry, pharmacology, development of herbal drug formulation. Three Ph D students registered under me who are presently working in different domains such as antidiabetic, immunomodulator and anticancer herbal drugs. I have guided 7 projects of UG students under SSIP (Student start up and Innovation Policy) scheme of Gujarat Government. I have selected as Mentor in Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) at AICTE, New Delhi to guide two interns for their project works. I am very interested to guide students in various research areas such as evidence based studies on traditionally used drugs and formulation as well as development of herbal drug formulations.
