My Biography

My basic training had been in Agricultural More sciences. I did my Masters in Agriculture with specialization in Agronomy. Thereafter, I did my Ph.D. in Agronomy from the Agricultural and Food Engineering Department, IIT Kharagpur, INDIA. As a part of my curriculum, I studied crop ecosystems, crop production strategies in tropical regions, modern techniques of raising field crops, cropping system theory and practices, input management in cropping systems, crop productivity constraints, case studies of cropping systems for different agro-climatic conditions of the country, soil-plant-water relationship, water resource system analysis and management etc. I worked on software-based solutions for agricultural systems-DSSAT (Decision Support System for Agro Technological Transfer).
My Ph.D. research project was based on “Comparative Assessment of Conventional and Organic Nutrient Management on Growth, Yield and Quality of Crops in Tomato-Sweet Production System” at IIT Kharagpur. In the study, an attempt was made to compare the effect of organic and inorganic fertilizer sources on yield, biochemical constituents of vegetable crops and antioxidant content of crops as well as on soil properties. I measured various biochemical parameters such as ascorbic acid, lycopene, beta carotene total phenolics, crude protein, sugar, and secondary and micronutrient content of crops.
